Project Brief

This finished component was manufactured through precision vacuum brazing in a Normantherm vacuum furnace, joining tungsten carbide, tool steel, and stainless steel into a single high-performance assembly. Such dissimilar material combinations are widely used in wear-resistant tooling, industrial machinery, precision fixtures, and high-load mechanical components where both hardness and structural strength are required.
During the vacuum brazing cycle, the assembly was processed under a high-vacuum environment, eliminating oxidation and ensuring excellent filler metal flow throughout the joint interface. The result is a clean, flux-free metallurgical bond with superior joint integrity, minimal distortion, and excellent dimensional accuracy.
The tungsten carbide section provides exceptional wear resistance, while the tool steel and stainless steel components contribute toughness, machinability, and corrosion resistance. Achieving a reliable bond between these materials requires precise temperature uniformity and controlled heating rates, making vacuum brazing the preferred manufacturing method.
Processed in a Normantherm VF Series vacuum brazing furnace, the finished assembly demonstrates the capability of advanced vacuum furnace technology to produce high-strength, oxidation-free joints for demanding industrial applications.
