Stainless Steel–Tungsten Carbide Vacuum Brazing

Tools and Dies

Stainless Steel–Tungsten Carbide Vacuum Brazing Hero 1

Project Brief

This sample demonstrates the successful vacuum brazing of stainless steel and tungsten carbide, combining the toughness and corrosion resistance of stainless steel with the excellent hardness and wear resistance of tungsten carbide. This material combination is widely used for components that require durability and reliable performance under demanding working conditions.

The brazing process was carried out in a Normantherm vacuum furnace under a clean and controlled vacuum atmosphere. Precise temperature control and uniform heating allowed the brazing alloy to flow evenly across the joint, creating a strong bond while minimizing oxidation, contamination, and surface defects.

The finished component achieved a clean appearance, uniform joint, and reliable bonding quality, demonstrating the advantages of vacuum brazing for joining dissimilar materials. The process is suitable for cutting tools, wear-resistant parts, molds, dies, and other precision industrial components where high joint strength and consistent quality are required.
